Excellent article. Never liked Ike, to much of a slimy politician. MacArthur and Patton were Heroes.
I've had this Alternate History Idea for a while where MacArthur makes a deal with Emperor Hirohito and becomes the American Shogun of a new American-Japanese Shogunate. Synthesizing American industrial/military might and traditional Japanese culture. I think it could've been gloriously based.
I was browsing Amazon as I often do and found a biography of MacArthur called American Caesar by William Manchester. It sounds interesting, maybe that could help.
Similar to MacArthur, only passing knowledge. He's one of those American figures where it seems like we all used to love him, but he's kind of forgotten today.
They wouldn’t let his wife bury him at their plot back in the states, he was buried in Germany. Then when his wife died, they wouldn’t let her be buried with him there, so their kids illegally spread her ashes over his grave.
That story will go into an article I’m writing about their relationship. It is very sweet, and shows a sense of loyalty and devotion most do not show today.
Unlikely, but it's hard to say. He would have put Nazis in power in Germany to rebuild it and help beat the Russians, and this would undoubtedly influence him. It's possible.
Thanks, Aidan. It was quite a good overview.

Appreciate the comment, and yeah Patton really turned against Ike as time went on. It started in Africa.
MacArthur would be a cool figure to look into. I only know passing knowledge on the guy. I will have to dig, and see what I think.

Thoughts on Theodore Roosevelt?

He wasn't perfect, but as a man, he was one of the greats. Edmund Morris's "The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt" is a great read. Peace

Thank you, sir!
